Theolis with Magic and Stuff

Well it's done, or at least I feel it is. I'm sure there's about a million different things you could come up with to improve on the drawing, but I like it the way it is.

Although, I also really like this little bonus version, with Theo's shirt off. Still very much finding his body . . , uh we'll say well drawn. Obviously, I didn't feel like shading all of Theolis' body so I removed all the shading from this one.

Also, I pretty much have no idea what to title this. I'm about to just call it Theolis vs A Robot Bug Monster.

[WIP] Theolis - Background Base

Took me awhile to figure out that grass, but I think I finally got it to something I like. I actually had to make my own brush for it (which is something I probably should have been doing for foliage ages ago, considering the difficulty I went through inking foliage in that picture of Robbie with the airship wreck, ugh).

Now I just need to shade; I think I'll keep it simple with some simple cel shading and maybe some color correction. I don't know for certain yet. We'll see how it turns out.

[WIP] Theolis - Foreground Base

So I've gotten this far, now I need to decide on a background. I know I want to do something minimalist, but I don't know what that would be. I also have to decide how I want to shade this. Though, I'm leaning towards minimalistic as well.

Best of Work Doodles

So considering these were drawn at work (I mean totally not drawn at work; I was working at work after all) and photographed with two different phones, one which had issues with blur on the camera and therefore are fairly low quality, these are mostly for my benefit. Still some are decent enough, and neat designs, so here's a bunch of doodles. I think the earliest some of these were drawn was maybe a year or two ago.

So first off, we have some summon spirit design ideas.

 

First is an idea for Leviathan that I think dates from around the time I was trying to model him. The next one is Volk the guardian spirit of the moon, who was drawn way early. I think he is my earliest doodle. In the bottom left are Quetzalcoatl the spirit of air and Tesla the spirit of electricity; they were drawn fairly recently. And finally, there's Nabta Playa, which is the spirit of space. It's hard to see what it is, but Nabta Playa is supposed to be a bunch of rocks floating around a central rock, all with varying designs on them held together in a disk of stars.

I also drew some monster designs, before we get to what I think people like more (characters).

These were drawn around the same time, maybe a month ago. The first set are monsters from around my main town, Sieros. The other are a bunch of invertebrates, including a planarian and a nudibranch. Though, the amorphous blob in the bottom right corner is nothing but a failed drawing.

Now for some drawings of my main crew. You know the guys I draw a lot and have a set of headshots of.

  

First, there's an old doodle of a grumpy Sakura.And then, there are two different designs for Toran, which are kind of on opposite sides of his tiger dog-ness and what I believe his normal design is. Also, I think this includes the only drawing of him wearing his glasses instead of contacts.

 

And now for Theolis, who gets three things, which is totally surprising I know. The first one is sort of an idea of what his were form's body would look like and the next two are just normal Theo. The bottom one was drawn more recently; I like this one, cause it's kind of cute.

And now for some characters who haven't been ever drawn, or were redesigned. Also Remmy's character, Nick, cause he fits in this group, due to reasons.

 

  

First, we have some randomly grouped characters. The human is Rita Harrison, a character from Robbie's story. She's a shy fanfiction writer and artist who enjoys anime, especially a magical girl show that's like Sailor Moon and has a reputation in my world like the current My Little Pony cartoon. Then we have Mani Prakash the tiger ferret, he's a dorky overenthusiastic archaeology student from Theolis' second story. On the bottom left is the brother of JD from Robbie's story; his name is Derek Deen and he's a keyboardist in a band who's lead singer is his boyfriend Domitri (one of Rem's characters). Finally, we have my most recent doodle, Colin Gainsley, my rottweiler, Fang's, boyfriend/husband.

 

 

Here we have two consecutive picks of Nick. The guy next to him in the second doodle is Jet Keats, an otter kangaroo from Rubicam (my world's Australia) and Nick's best friend. They met on the first day of school after they had moved from their home country, which in Nick's case is Llords (my world's England), so they hit it off pretty well. Below them is Titus Hind; he joins up with Nick and his friends when they first start up Clan Onyx and eventually becomes Nick's boyfriend and his husband. He's a german shepherd, by the way.

 

Finally, we have Theolis and Kiff's kids. The guy on the left is the older brother Chase with Kaden on the right. Chase is the more responsible one taking more off of Kiff while Kaden more takes after Theolis and probably a little bit of Xano.

[WIP] A Bunch of Starting Monsters - Sketch

In lieu of drawing character art or writing more story, for the past few weeks I've been playing around in RPG Maker, if that hasn't been obvious. Because, I finished off this one massive map for an area outside the main character's home city, I decided to draw some concepts for enemies that might show up there.

We've got some plant monsters, some insect monsters, some elementals, and a frog. I'm not sure if I'll use them all, though the frog was a pain, so I'll probably use it at the least.
